BioGENEius Overview

The BioGENEius Challenge is a great opportunity for your child to gain experience working with scientists on their own research project.

Parental support will be important in helping students complete the BioGENEius Challenge. This will include ensuring your child can attend the four BioGENEius workshops, lab sessions and meetings with their mentor as well as maintaining momentum in conducting their research over the year.

If your child is selected to participate in the BioGENEius Challenge, you will have the opportunity to meet with your child's mentor at the induction workshop to be held at Scitech on 28 April. Parents are encouraged to keep in touch with their child's mentor throughout the course of their child's research.

The lead mentor for each project team will get a Working with Children Check prior to commencing work with their BioGENEius student and will ensure participating students are provided with appropriate inductions and supervision for working within the research environment. The Department of Industry and Resources will provide insurance cover for students while they are working on their BioGENEius projects.
