International Business Council
The Department of Industry and Resources actively assists Western Australian (WA) businesses to enter the global marketplace through its ongoing support of the International Business Council (IBC) of WA and its members.
International Business Council
IBC is an incorporated member-based council whose membership consists of bilateral chambers of commerce or business councils and/or associations whose members are actively involved in local and international trade activities. The IBC aims to:
- Promote the development of international trade and business opportunities for WA
- Provide a forum for the exchange of information between its members
- Enhance co-operation between the members
- Assist members access available grant schemes
- Provide a focal point for government, business and overseas visitors wanting to explore international trade and commerce opportunities.

International Business Awards
Since 1996 the International Business Council of Western Australia has presented annual awards to acknowledge the contribution made by individuals who develop international business which benefits Western Australia. The valued ‘International Business Awards’ are divided into four categories to recognise contributions made to a range of business situations.
These categories are the:

• New Exporter Award
• Home Business Award
• President’s Award

2008 International Business Award Winners
More than 200 people attended the 2008 International Business Awards Gala Dinner at Perth’s Government House Ballroom.
Deputy Premier Eric Ripper presented awards to the recipients.
It is the thirteenth year of the awards which are an opportunity to recognise those outstanding achievers who have contributed to international business benefiting Western Australia.
The awards embrace the many facets of international business and encourage international enterprise.

IBC Management Committee
The International Business Council Western Australia (IBCWA) is managed by a member-elected management committee. Only an endorsed financial member of a member organisation is eligible to be on the committee.

DoIR's Events Calendar promotes a range of events that may be of interest to IBC Members.
Austrade coordinates, promotes and participates in a range of international and local trade events.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's website contains a guide to diplomatic representation of foreign governments in Canberra as well as representatives of international organisations in Australia.
