Home page
This screen shows the home page for GSWA's DigitalPaper document delivery system. You will arrive here after clicking on the Home link in the top menu of DigitalPaper or if you visit DigitalPaper directly via the link: http://geodocs.doir.wa.gov.au/home.do

The Document Search box allows you to quickly search a cabinet for documents and files. Choose the cabinet to search or accept the default setting of All cabinets. In the next box, enter all or part of the information you wish to search for. The search is not case sensitive. The results will contain all items where a document's Title field matches your search criteria. Note that some cabinets do not hold documents with a Title field. For these cabinets, perform an Advanced Search.

Documents page
Accessible from the link in the top menu bar, the Documents page allows detailed searching in cabinets. Select a cabinet to search from the dropdown box in the top right hand corner of the Search For Documents box. Each cabinet shows a custom form containing searchable fields. In any field, enter all or part of the information you wish to search for. The search is not case sensitive.

Documents matching your search criteria appear in the Document Search Results page. Available actions appear next to each document thumbnail. To view a document, click on its View link or click on the document thumbnail. The Properties link displays information about the document, including file size and page count.
The Print option prints part or all of a document to your printer. Please see the important notes about printing (located further down this page) from your browser versus downloading the document PDF and printing from Acrobat. Click on Download to transfer the document file to your computer. Be sure to check a document's file size (using the Properties link) before downloading it. Some document files are very large and will take a long time to download on a slow internet connection.

Viewing documents
The Document Viewer shows a table of thumbnails on the left and a page view on the right. Use the thumbnail table to browse through document pages. Click on a thumbnail to show that page in the right hand window. To go directly to a page, enter the page number in the entry box at the top of the thumbnail table.

The icons embedded in the frame surrounding the page view provide ways to navigate and interact with the document. To learn what each icon does, rest your mouse pointer over the icon and a brief description will appear.

In the bottom border of the page-view frame you'll find the frame Size control. Use this to adjust the frame dimensions to best suit the page format or your screen resolution.
![]()
The Zoom control in the top border of the page-view frame lets you enlarge or reduce the page image with one click. You can choose a preset value or enter a custom zoom level.
![]()
On each corner of the viewing frame you will find arrow buttons that pan the image left, right, up, and down.

Another way to move around the page is the Birds Eye View Panel. To switch it on and off, click the Birds Eye View icon.

The Birds Eye View Panel sits inside the top right corner of the page frame. Click anywhere on the page thumbnail inside the box to reposition the zoomed viewing area. Combined with the Zoom control and the pan buttons (described above), you can quickly and accurately move the viewing area to anywhere on the page.

To mark an area of the page, click on the Define Area icon (the icon above the eye icon). When activated, the icon will look pushed in, as shown in the screenshot below. When Define Area is activated, your mouse pointer changes to a black crosshair when moving over the page view window. To define an area, left-click and hold then drag the mouse to size the highlighted area. Another way to define an area is, left-click once on a point to mark the first corner. A green crosshair remains where you clicked. Move the mouse pointer to the opposite corner of your selection and click a second time. A highlighted box appears, marking the area you defined.
After defining an area, to zoom in on the selection click the View Area button (the eye icon). Or you might wish to Copy Area to Clipboard for pasting into another application (the clipboard icon below the eye icon), or you can print the marked area using the Print Area button (the printer icon below the clipboard icon).

Downloading documents
When viewing a document, you can download the original file by clicking on the Download Document icon on the top border of the page-view frame.

Printing Documents
Your browser will ask for your permission to install a small print helper module the first time you attempt to print from the DigitalPaper browser. You cannot print from DigitalPaper without this module, and it is compatible with Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser only. To manually install the print helper, click on Options in the top menu, then click the Download DPPrint Setup link (also available for download at the top-right hand side of this screen).

When you click on a print function, the Printer Options window appears (shown below). Note that this window does not appear when you choose Print Area.
Important notes about printing:
- Except when printing an area of a page, the DigitalPaper printing function will reproduce a maximum of 256 colours on your printer, possibly resulting in reduced quality (dithering) compared with what is displayed on screen.
- Printing colour pages using DigitalPaper's print function can cause large data transfers between our server and your computer. For users with limited bandwidth, it may be faster to download the entire native document and print it locally. For example, many of our documents are stored in PDF format. It may be quicker to download the PDF file and print it directly from the Acrobat viewer program instead of printing the pages using the DigitalPaper print function.

After clicking on Print in the Print Options window, a second window appears (shown below). Click on Printer Setup to configure your printer and set job options. Finally, click on Print to submit the job to your printer.

Troubleshooting
If the DigitalPaper interface behaves unexpectedly or returns an error message, as a first step in solving the problem try clearing your browser cache. For Internet Explorer users, go to the browser's top menu and click on TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS. In the Temporary Internet Files section click the Delete Files button. If the problem persists, please contact GSWA Online Services (refer to the contact information located at the top right-hand side of this screen).
