Commencing Friday 11 July, the Petroleum and Geothermal Information Management System (WAPIMS) which is coordinated through the Department of Industry and Resources (DoIR) will be moved to a faster server with a new secure address.
WAPIMS is a petroleum, geothermal and minerals exploration database containing data on titles, wells, geophysical surveys and other petroleum exploration and production data submitted to DoIR by the petroleum sector.
Geothermal data has recently been added to the site and the database contains information on mineral drill holes, tenements, mine sites, aeromagnetic surveys, land access information, geology and culture data.
DoIR’s Manager of Petroleum Geology Jeffrey Haworth said the move to a new server was required to allow users faster access to the system and offer them the ability to personalise WAPIMS to meet their own requirements.
“Personalisation includes setting up maps surrounding client’s areas of interest with the layers they want turned on and saving the map for the next time they log on,” he said.
“It also includes creating and saving database reports set up for their needs as well as saving filters on data to narrow down their searches,” he said.
For DoIR clients and stakeholders who use WAPIMS and need to update their old shortcut, the new link will be https://wapims.doir.wa.gov.au/dp
